Help Support Training of Service Dogs

Merlin's KIDS invites the public to its first annual "Round-Up for Autism" fundraiser on June 13.

The charitable initiative, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Central Park at Morris County, 91 Central Ave., Morris Plains, will directly benefit the rescue, transport and training of shelter dogs to become service animals for needy families nationwide.

Admission is $10, and children younger than 6 are free. Dogs are welcome.

Scheduled to appear include Jonathan Bell from Z100 radio and Brian Voynick from Channel 12 with a guest appearance by Temple Grandin. Activities include a dog show for purebred and mixed breed dogs (with trophies, rosettes,or ribbons to each entrant), biggest/smallest dog and/or human walk-a-thon, photo contest for cutest dog, games, face painting, balloons for kids and dogs, live music by popular local performers and U-Stream internet video.

Merlin's KIDS, founded by Wyckoff resident Janice Wolfe, is a non-profit organization based in Bergen County dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and training of dogs to become service dogs—at no charge—to children with autism and other special needs.
