Seminar Planned on County Arts Grant Funding

The Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs will host an arts funding seminar from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 7 for new applicants to the 2011 Bergen County Arts Grant Program. The seminar will take place at the Bergen County Administration Building, 1 Bergen County Plaza, fourth Floor,Hackensack.

To apply for the first time, an organization is required to send a representative to the seminar. If any currently funded organizations are changing grant coordinators, the new coordinator should attend. The application form and 2011 guidelines will be mailed out after the seminar to organizations in the current and last year's funding cycle.

The 2011 grant cycle is for arts projects or programs taking place Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. The grant timeline is as follows: letters of intent (required to submit an application) are due Sept. 21. The completed applications are due in the division office no later than 4:30 p.m. Oct. 18.

To apply, an organization must have its official base and mailing address in Bergen County and must have been presenting arts programs here for three years or more. Applicants should be tax-exempt 501(c) (3) organizations with up-to-date state reports. Organizations serving ethnic or culturally diverse communities or special constituencies are encouraged to call for application information.
