Youth Biathlon in Franklin Lakes

The Franklin Lakes Recreation & Parks Department and the Wyckoff Family YMCA will present the first Franklin Lakes Youth "Splash and Dash" Biathlon at 8 a.m. Sept. 11.

Athletes ranging in age from 7 to 15 will compete in this swim/run event to be held at the Indian Trail Club, 830 Franklin Lakes Road, Franklin Lakes.

Proceeds will benefit both Franklin Lakes Recreation and the Wyckoff Family YMCA. The race is designed to promote health and wellness for children and be a fun and social community-wide event.

Four race groups are as follows:  7- to 8-year-olds compete in a 75-yard pool swim and 1-mile run; 9- to 11-year-olds swim 200 yards in a pool and run 2 miles; 12- to 13-year-olds swim 400 yards in the lake and a 2.5-mile run; and 14- to 15-year-olds swim 600 yards in the lake and run 3 miles.
