Horses On The Highway: Ex-Wyckoff Mayor Pushes Equine License Plates
Assemblyman Kevin Rooney has backed a bill to create horse license plates that would fund riding therapy for special needs New Jerseyans.
WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff's former mayor wants to see more horses on the highway...on New Jersey license plates, that is.
Assemblyman Kevin Rooney (NJ-40) has sponsored a bill to raise funds for horse-riding therapy for New Jerseyans with special needs through special license plates honoring the state animal.
If the legislation is enacted, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission would collect $50 application fees per plate, and the cash collected would go to the state agriculture department to fund horse wellbeing and therapeutic riding, the assemblyman said.
