Franklin Lakes medical technology company Becton, Dickinson and Co. has successfully acquired CareFusion for $12.2 billion.
The acquisition will now make BD - which manufactures and sells medical supplies, devices and more - one of the largest medical product companies in the world, according to NorthJersey.com.
“This acquisition significantly accelerates BD’s strategy and builds scale and depth in medication management and patient safety solutions,” Vincent A. Forlenza, BD’s Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President said in a press release, calling the acquisition a “major milestone in BD’s 118-year-history.”

CareFusion offers products and services focusing on medication errors and hospital-acquired infections, according to its website.
Combined, both companies have annual revenues of $12 billion, according to NorthJersey.com.
