The Week Ahead: BOE Elections, 31 Cent Scoop Night
Here's a look at what's going on this week in Franklin Lakes.

On Wednesday, voters will go to the polls to cast ballots on the school budgets and candidates for the local school board. The polls will be open 2 to 9 p.m.
Local school board candidates Larry Loprete, Susan McGowan, Craig Urcioli, and Carolyn Reitz are running for three, three-year terms. Jamie Martino is running uncontested for one, unexpired term. No Franklin Lakes seats are open on the regional school board this year.
The K-8 district is presenting a $27.6 million budget to voters, which reflects a 3.1 percent decreased tax levy and will save taxpayers about $350 a year for a home assessed at $1,032,252, the borough's average, according to school officials.

The Ramapo-Indian Hills district is presenting a $49 million budget to voters, which reflects a 2.83 percent increase in spending and a 0.24 percent decrease to the tax levy. To pass, the budget needs a cumulative majority from the three sending municipalities of Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes and Oakland. If approved, both Oakland and Franklin Lakes residents will pay about $34 less for the average home, while Wyckoff residents will see a $94 increase.
The RIH school board will meet tonight in the District Conference Room. The public session is expected to begin at 8 p.m. The executive session will begin at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

Library Events
The library board is meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the history room of the library. Tonight is also Teen Poetry Night at the library. The open mic beings at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday night, at 7 p.m. the library is hosting an experiential workshop titled Meet Your Magnificent Self.

31 Cent Scoop Night
Support the Franklin Lakes Fire Department, and enjoy some ice cream, on Wednesday from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Baskin Robins on Franklin Avenue for the annual 31 Cent Scoop Night Celebration. FLFD will pass out Fire Prevention literature and temporary tattoos for the children.
Safe, secure disposal
Friday is Shred Day in Franklin Lakes. Have personal documents that need shredding? Bring them to the DPW between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for secure shredding.
On Saturday, bring your unfinished prescription and OTC medications to the Police Department between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for a drug take back event, sponsored by Franklin Lakes Municipal Alliance and the Franklin Lakes Girl Scout Cadette Troop #239, along with the police department.
