Here are some of the stories you may have missed this week.

Vehicular homicide charges were filed this week in the fatal accident at the Pulis Avenue crossing. Police allege the driver, Jeffery Cohen, an 18-year-old student at Hawthorne High School, was high on marijuana when he drove his Jeep Cherokee into a train on Jan. 24.

In government this week, the mayor and council passed the 2011 budget at its meeting Wednesday night. A vote on a proposed ordinance to require fences around pools that are currently grandfathered exceptions to the uniformed construction code.
We heard from Franklin Lakes Board of Education candidates Carolyn Reitz, Craig Urcioli, Susan McGowan, Larry Loprete, and Jaime Martino this week. More information on the school board elections, including the budget figures for both the local and regional districts is available here.
