Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. The Rio Grande in the Albuquerque area could possibly dry up. The Bureau of Reclamation warns that the river could have several dry spots, leaving endangered slivery minnows stranded where they are. The Bureau of Reclamation plans to release some supplemental water from upstream but it is concerned that it won't be enough. (ABQ Journal)
  2. The Bernalillo County District Attorney has shared his frustrations about suspects cutting ankle monitors. According to Raul Torrez, the GPS monitoring program is an inadequate alternative to pretrial detention. The program reportedly does not have adequate communication between jail personnel and pretrial services. Torrez wants the monitors to be placed before the suspect is released back into the community. (KRQE News 13)
  3. The Albuquerque Police Department has installed seven cameras along Central. The cameras will reportedly keep a closer eye on criminal activity while ensuring public safety. Central was chosen since it is the entertainment corridor. The cameras were installed between 1st and 7th Streets. (KRQE News 13)
