Governor 'disappointed' in use of National Guard in Albuquerque (koat.com) — State and city leaders are debating whether the $7 million National Guard deployment in Albuquerque has delivered enough results in the fight against crime. While officials note more arrests and fewer property crimes along Central, the governor and local watchdogs say the city could have used the Guard’s resources more aggressively to tackle deeper issues like addiction, poverty, and homelessness.
   

2. Teen suspect charged with fatally stabbing father (kob.com) — A 16-year-old girl has been charged with murder after police say her father died from a stabbing during a domestic confrontation at the Arrowhead Pointe Apartments in Albuquerque on Saturday night. Detectives say the incident followed an alleged history of issues involving the father, and the teen is now being held at the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center as the case moves forward.
   

3. Albuquerque Sunport seeing increase in holiday travelers this year over last year (krqe.com) — Holiday travel is surging at Albuquerque Sunport, with about 9,000 passengers boarding daily and airport officials warning that every day this week will be busier than usual. Travelers are urged to arrive extra early, especially on Wednesday and next Sunday, and to plan for potentially full on-site parking and possible off-site options as the Sunport continues tracking delays and cancellations online.
   

4. Rio Rancho holiday light display supports local food drive for families (kob.com) — A Rio Rancho neighborhood is using a massive luminaria and Christmas light display on Villa Verde Drive to collect food donations for Storehouse West, helping local children and seniors. Organizer Leslie Wegrzynek, who grew up with luminaria traditions in Albuquerque, has turned her family’s pastime into an 11-year effort that’s already provided tons of food and thousands of dollars to neighbors in need.
