Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:
- The proposed statues of two Breaking Bad characters have sparked a debate in Albuquerque. Opponents of the statues argue that the series promotes drug use and will ruin the city's image. Supporters of the statues argue that the television series has brought over $385 million in economic impact to the city. (KOAT New Mexico)
- The Albuquerque Police Department reports that the city is on track to break the existing homicide record for a calendar year. The city has already experienced 67 homicides with only half the year completed. The current record sits at over 100. - ABQ Ride will be hosting a car show and hiring fair on Sunday. The first-ever event will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Mantano Transportation Center. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy food, drinks, music, raffles, and unique cars. City staff will also be accepting job applications and performing interviews for select job openings.
