Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:
- Local filmmakers have joined together to host a new film fest called the Fronteras Microfilm Festival. The festival seeks entries with runtimes from 30 seconds to three minutes that feature different categories related to this year's themes of borders, enforcement, and border crossings. The deadline for entries is May 2, and so far, festival organizers report they have received entries from filmmakers in several countries, including Mexico, France, the UK, and Iran. (KOB 4)
- City officials in Albuquerque have announced that the city is planning to add around 48 new pickleball courts. The expansion project includes 15 new courts and related upgrades at the Manzano Mesa Park near Four Hills, which is estimated to cost around $3.5 million, and eight new courts near the Ventana Ranch Park, which will cost around $1.5 million (KOB 4)
- The California Pizza Kitchen is participating in the Pizza for Pachyderms event, a fundraiser for the Asian Elephant Support Organization. Today, Apr. 26, those wishing to participate can have 20 percent of their check at the California Pizza Kitchen donated to the organization when they mention ABQ BioPark or the Asian Elephant Support Organization either by eating at the restaurant or by using code AES when ordering online.
