(kob.com) — If you’re house-hunting in Albuquerque, a local Realtor says buyers remain active while many sellers pull back, especially on single-family homes. Attached housing like condos and townhomes now has far more inventory, and sellers who stay listed through the holidays are still getting close to their asking price as the metro’s average home hovers around $425,000.
   

2. Celebrate the holiday season on Christmas Eve with a balloon glow (kunm.org) — Christmas Eve in Albuquerque will feature a free Arroyo Del Oso Balloon Glow with 36 hot air balloons lighting up the golf course along Osuna. Families can stroll the fairway, chat with balloon crews, and even see Santa between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m., with convenient parking at the clubhouse and maintenance yard.
   

3. Albuquerque mayor and city council dispute over paramedic staffing costs taxpayers nearly $1 million (koat.com) — Albuquerque residents are footing nearly $1 million in legal bills as Mayor Tim Keller and the City Council battle over how many paramedics should staff fire and rescue units. The dispute has triggered dueling lawsuits, questions about the city attorney’s role, and a proposed investigation that could lead to her removal, even as Albuquerque Fire Rescue slowly rolls out its new staffing plan.
   

4. Protected bike lane installed on MLK Avenue to improve cyclist safety in Albuquerque (krqe.com) — A new protected bike lane on MLK Jr. Avenue near downtown Albuquerque is part of a pilot project to curb cyclist deaths and test barrier designs through February. City officials and BikeABQ hope the Vision Zero-inspired effort will lead to more protected lanes citywide so everyday riders, kids, and families feel safer choosing bikes for daily trips.
   

5. Albuquerque Boys and Girls Club renovation project faces delays (krqe.com) — The long-delayed renovation of the Albuquerque Boys and Girls Club’s Seligman Teen Center near the Bel-Air neighborhood is finally back on track, with completion expected this summer. Backed in part by City of Albuquerque funding, the upgraded space will offer a gym, fitness room, digital arts classrooms, and meal support for about 100 local teens.
