Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is proposing the state give single-filing adults in New Mexico a $750 tax rebate and joint filers a $1,500 rebate as part of the state's $9.4 billion budget. The proposed budget also includes a raise for school staff and money to go towards health insurance premiums for school employees. Rep. Jason Harper from Sandoval County said, "This is the taxpayers' money. Right? And I think taxpayers have and families have a better idea of how to spend that money than the government." (KOAT New Mexico)
  2. A tiger cub found at a crime scene earlier this week is now temporarily staying at the ABQ BioPark Zoo. Albuquerque police found the cub in a dog crate in a trailer while investigating a shooting on Tuesday. It is illegal to have a pet tiger in the state. (KRQE News 13)
  3. The Albuquerque FBI office recently split the Violent Crime and Gang Task Force into two groups to help better address the city's investigations. The Violent Crime Task Force and the Violent Gang Task Force will continue to work together, but the split will allow each task force to focus on a specific area. (KRQE News 13)
