- Throughout Bernalillo County, low-income seniors aged 50 and older can receive free groceries, toiletries, and pet food at three different locations in the county. The community group Silver Horizons organized this in order to help those who are facing financial challenges in the area. The qualifications for what seniors are eligible for are listed in the article as well as the three distribution locations and make sure to bring proof of age. (KRQE News 13)
- The Albuquerque Police Department is taking on the issue of drug abuse in the city by focusing on city bus stops and it is already beginning to make a difference. APD is combatting this by having more of a physical presence at these stops and on these buses along Central Avenue. Undercover officers are present on buses and at different stops observing activities and hopefully deterring those who plan to do something. This past Sunday, officers arrested one man who is believed to play a significant role in the drug issues occurring at stops, and with this operation ongoing the force is hopeful to continue to catch more criminals. - When 17-year-old Fallon Setter heard about The Grief Center for the first time all she could think about was how to help. Setter took the initiative and was able to raise more than $4,000 to get a space for the Center called the Blowing Off Steam Room. This safe space is for people of all ages to let out the anger they are feeling whether it is through punching or kicking something, or simply just sitting in a quiet space unbothered. The support The Grief Center has received from the community has been overwhelming and they have served over 700 people since September 2022. (KOB 4)
