Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. Habitat for Humanity is building six energy-efficient homes for first-time homeowners in Greater Albuquerque. With the help of a dozen partners, volunteers have been building homes from concrete instead of nails and wood to help keep the new residents' costs low. The new builds are located in the San Jose neighborhood in Southeast Albuquerque. (KRQE News 13)
  2. Tree New Mexico held its first planting session of the season on Saturday. Around 90 volunteers made their way to Silver Hill and Spruce Park and planted 100 trees to help support the city's shrinking canopy. Trees are vital for combating climate change, lowering temperatures, and adding to the city's beauty and green space. (KRQE News 13)
  3. Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury was one of several representatives leading a youth summit on Saturday in Albuquerque. The event welcomed students aged 11-18, and provided them with a platform to share their concerns and what mattered to them, including school safety, safe spaces, and mental health. Other local groups participating in the event included Together for Brothers, Albuquerque Community Safety, New Mexico DECA, and the Explora Teen Center. (KOAT New Mexico)
