Albuquerque is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or youβre just an occasional visitor, you know that Albuquerque has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.
A few things to know:
- Albuquerque has a rich history that dates back over 1,000 years! The area was first inhabited by the Pueblo people and you can still see their ancient ruins at places like the Petroglyph National Monument.
- Did you know that Albuquerque is home to the world's largest hot air balloon festival? Every October, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta draws visitors from around the globe for a week of ballooning events, live music and delicious food.
- For movie buffs, Albuquerque is a must-visit destination! The city has been the backdrop for many famous films and TV shows, including Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and The Avengers. You can even take a tour of some of the filming locations!
- If you're looking for a unique outdoor adventure, head to the Sandia Mountains just east of Albuquerque. Here, you can take a scenic tram ride to the top of the mountain, go hiking or mountain biking, or even try your hand at skiing or snowboarding in the winter months.
