- A federal jury convicted a 77-year-old New Mexico man, Milton Boutte, for conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He was ordered to pay more than $1.21 million in restitution. According to the DOJ, he funneled nearly $4.1 million to his contacts and was sentenced to two years in prison for his crimes. (KRQE News 13)
- In Albuquerque, rent prices continue to rise, causing hundreds of residents to miss rent payments, forcing a local organization, The New Mexico Dream Team, to take matters into their own hands. The NM Dream Team is a statewide network that helps homeowners struggling to make payments. According to reports, Bernalillo County has about $17 million to distribute to homeowners, and people in a four-person home can qualify if they make under $60,400. (KOAT)
- Saranam, a local nonprofit organization, is helping families in New Mexico experiencing homelessness and giving them a place to live for two years. The nonprofit is building 25 transitional housing units to assist the homeless population. The foundation is laid for 10 of the 25 buildings, and they hope to have two of the four-bedroom homes filled by the spring. (KRQE News 13)
