- Recently released surveillance video shows the final moments before a massage shop employee was killed. The incident occurred at Wonderful Massage on Jan. 25. The footage shows Fihui Fang, 45, being dragged to the shop's backroom by her hair. A February 2023 documentary titled "I Hate Asians" will reportedly use the footage to bring awareness to the growing number of Asian hate crimes occurring across the country. (KOAT New Mexico)
- The 4th of July Independence Day event returns to Albuquerque on Monday. The event will include a 45-minute fireworks show and a special performance by the famed band Shenandoah. The event is free but drivers will be expected to pay $10 in cash for parking per vehicle. (KRQE News 13)
- Albuquerque workers will now begin accruing paid sick leave effective this week. The New Mexico law mandates that employers provide employees with one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked. The sick leave can accumulate to eight days per year for full-time employees. Supporters of the new law expect that it will help employee retention during the ongoing labor shortage.
