  1. Albuquerque's version of Jane's Walks, named after urban activist Jane Jacobs, will take place on May 6, led by Doreen McKnight and David Ryan. The free neighborhood walks aim to introduce participants to the architecture, heritage, culture, social history, and trends in a particular part of the city. This year, two walks β€” "Mountain Road Arts Corridor" and "Troche Moche" β€” will take place, both starting at Julianna Kirwin Printmaking Studio at Eighth Street and Mountain Road. The walks are slightly over two miles long, with three different schedules for each. More information can be found here. (Albuquerque Journal)
  2. On Saturday, Canteen Brewhouse teamed up with 16 other breweries to raise funds for one of their staff members, Mike Thrall, who is battling cancer. The breweries raised more than $5,000 and donated beer to support Mike and his family. Mike was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2022. His wife, Marti Tapia, expressed her gratitude for the beer community's support and how it has touched Mike, who didn't realize how many lives he had impacted until this happened. Those who would like to support Mike and his family can donate to their GoFundMe.(KOB 4)
  3. Saou Maiga, 39, has been arrested by the Albuquerque Police Department after turning himself in for the murder of Nicholas Turrietta which took place in December 2021. According to detectives, Maiga shot Turrietta at his home and then stole his phone, which was later found in the desert near Los Lunas. Phone records and social media communication led the detectives to Maiga, who lives in Socorro, as they discovered that he was the last person to see Turrietta alive. Maiga is an employee at White Sands Missile Range and was charged with murder and tampering with evidence after turning himself in to U.S. Marshals. (KRQE)
