Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. A major supplier of guns and drugs for the city's homeless population has been busted by the Albuquerque Police Department. Gilbert Hernandez, Robert Grado, and Mike Tomasaour have been charged with various charges - including federal ones. The department reportedly recovered four guns, 4,500 fentanyl pills, meth, cocaine, heroin, crack, and $10,000 cash during the bust. (KRQE News 13)
  2. Recent rainfall has allowed Albuquerque to reopen some Open Spaces. The areas were closed due to extreme fire danger. The Carolina Canyon, Gutierrez-Milne, San Antonito, Juan Thomas, Loma Ponderosa, Golden, and Placitas Open Spaces have been opened to the public. However, the community should still be cautious. (KOB 4)
  3. One of the city's newest speed cameras was stolen. The camera was only up for 17 days before a resident removed it from the pole on Lead at Cornell. The city also removed the camera setup on Coal to prevent additional vandalism. The camera's vendor will be paying for damages. The city will be evaluating ways to secure the cameras. Residents are reminded to slow down or risk getting a $100 citation. (Albuquerque Journal)
