Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:
- An Albuquerque dog owner has claimed that a contaminated jar of JIF peanut butter made his dog severely ill. The claims are not without merit. JIF's parent company issued a recall last week on fears of a salmonella outbreak. There have not been any confirmed reports of a person getting sick in New Mexico so far — but Dr. Victor Strasburger's dog might be the first non-human case. (KOB)
- Judge Victor Valdez has retired. He served as a Bernalillo County metro court judge for 18 years after being appointed by former Governor Bill Richardson in 2004. He presided over the Criminal Division from 2005 to 2011 while working with the Courts to School program. (KRQE News 13)
- Albuquerque's Summer Meal Program and Story Time in the Park begin this month. Meal distribution will begin on Monday, Jun. 6 with Story Time bookbag distributions beginning the same day.
