  1. This year's Capital Outlay Bill for New Mexico includes around $170 million in funding for 300 projects within Albuquerque. If Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signs the bill and doesn't veto any specific items, then the city will have funding for around 30 road projects, 10 museum projects, and 40 park-improvement projects. Funding will also go towards improving the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta with $4.1 million planned for park improvements and around $3 million planned for balloon landing sites outside of the park. 2. The Albuquerque Police Department released its results from a review of all police-involved shooting cases in 2022, which totaled 18 shooting incidents, the department's highest number in a single year. As a result of the review, the department said during its press conference on Thursday that it would continue to make improvements, such as holding a police shooting review every six months, continuing transparency in cases where officers use deadly force, and outlining areas where officers will receive more training. (KRQE News 13)
  3. On Thursday, Whole Woman's Health officially opened its Albuquerque clinic, which will offer abortion services up to 18 weeks of gestational age. The organization was forced to close four of its facilities in Texas when the Supreme Court ruled to remove the federal right to abortion, and the Albuquerque clinic aims to meet anticipated growth in demand from neighboring states, including Texas, Arizona, and Oklahoma.
