  1. A fatal officer-involved shooting took place on Saturday, resulting in the death of 41-year-old Mark Peter. Albuquerque Police Department (APD) officers were called to investigate a call of an unconscious individual parked outside of a local business. According to APD, Peter — who had multiple warrants — left his vehicle, prompting a foot chase that led to a shooting. Officials say Peter was shot multiple times and died at the scene; no officer or additional civilian injuries were reported. (KRQE)
  2. Over the weekend, Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Zech McPhearson made his way back to Albuquerque for another year to headline the Schmac Athletic Camp for local youth. In the last year since the camp was last run, McPhearson and his team competed in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. McPhearson said he enjoys sharing his life and experiences with the campers, and is confident for the Eagles' season ahead. (KRQE News 13)
  3. The Albuquerque Public School Board is beginning to work toward finding a replacement superintendent for Scott Elder, whose contract ends in about a year. The school board is hoping to find a firm to assist in the search by the end of August and then name a successor as soon as possible to make a smoother transition. Officials say they are being mindful of the timeline, as re-elections are coming soon and two of the three members are not seeking re-election. (KRQE News 13)
