Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:
- Raising Cane's restaurant has announced its plans to open five new locations in the Albuquerque region. The stores will reportedly open in 2023. The popular chicken finger franchise first teased its Albuquerque expansion in 2021. The known locations will be in Wyoming NE and Montgomery. It is not clear where the three other locations will be built. (Albuquerque Journal)
- The Rio Grande in Albuquerque has been reduced to puddles and mud. The change happened in less than a week. The water level is so low that fishing enthusiasts are better off just grabbing the fish from the river. The region desperately needs rainfall to rectify the issue. (KOB 4)
- Albuquerque Public School students have been awarded $30,000 for school supplies. The funds were raised through a joint effort by the city's Office of Civic Engagement, the One Albuquerque Fund, and the Corporate Volunteer of New Mexico. The new school year starts in August. (KRQE News 13)
