- Though recent warm weather may make it feel like spring, a local nursery recommends holding off on planting spring crops. David Mitnick, manager of Rehmβs Nursery in Albuquerque, warns that inclement weather could still come throughout the month of March. He recommends waiting to plant vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, or peppers until early April. However, leafy greens like cabbage or thyme and pansies or violas can survive the potentially cold weather ahead. (KOB 4)
- American Home Furniture and Mattress, a business that's been operating for 87 years in New Mexico, donated close to 40 mattresses to local nonprofit organization Saranam. Saranam helps local families struggling with homelessness by providing education, training, and fully-furnished apartments. High school students from Albuquerque Academy volunteered to help unload the mattresses over the weekend. (Albuquerque Journal)
- Albuquerque residents have expressed concerns about changes to the process to apply for Sun Van services. Sun Van provides transportation services to disabled residents who cannot walk or drive themselves. Previously, Sun Van's services required paperwork including a doctor's note, though now residents will be able to self-certify their disabilities. While this may make the services more accessible to those who need them, current Sun Van users worry some members may take advantage of the system. (Albuquerque Journal)
