Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. Visit Albuquerque reports that tourism in Albuquerque has finally rebounded. The organization reports that the city is benefiting from a pent-up travel demand. Tourism plays a major role in the city's economy — $2 billion was brought to the city in 2019. That extra money directly translates to taxes. (Albuquerque Journal)
  2. This weekend’s weather forecast includes an active monsoon. The monsoon will trap moisture across the state bringing daily rain to the Albuquerque metro area. Temperatures will also increase across the region as pressure increases. (KRQE News 13)
  3. A SWAT standoff in southeast Albuquerque has left one dead and one arrested. The Albuquerque Police Department attempted to arrest an individual with several outstanding warrants, but was met with heavy resistance by the individual near San Joaquin and Wyoming. The initial individual has been arrested but the department located a dead body in the home. It is not clear who the individual was or how the death occurred. (KOAT New Mexico)
