1 Taken To Hospital For Medical Event Related To Long Island Lightning Strike: Police

Lightning struck a tree on Saturday night, and the man was not struck, but was later treated for a related medical event, police said.

BABYLON, NY — A man was taken to a local hospital after a lightning strike in Babylon on Saturday night, Suffolk police said.

Lightning struck a tree on Roosevelt Street in Babylon at around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, police said, adding that First Precinct police officers were called to the scene.

The man, who was not struck, was taken to a local hospital "for a medical event related to the sound of the lightning strike," police said.
