Talk Back: Did You Support the School Budget?

Are you happy that the Babylon budget passed?

Last night a majority of Babylon Village residents voted to support next year's budget. There were 904 votes in favor of and 340 against the $46 million dollar budget.

The 2012-2013 budget will maintain current programming without any instructional layoffs while keeping the tax levy increase to a modest 1.39%. The average taxpayer burden, based on a property assessment of $4,300, will be $9.56 more per month.

Babylon's .38% budget increase is lower than Suffolk and Nassau County averages for district increases this year, at 2.57% and 1.88%, respectively.
