Grab your best friend and try a salsa dancing class, bring a group to a murder mystery, adopt a furry family member, take the kids out for nighttime drive to see Valentine's Day lights, or grab a heart-shaped pizza and watch your favorite movie.

- Valentine’s Day Salsa dancing: Grab a friend or a spouse for Long Island Latin Movement's Valentine's Day salsa group class for couples on Friday, Feb. 14, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at 5 Fifth Ave. in Bay Shore. Beginners are welcome. Cost: $45 prepay/$50 at the door. 631-886-4469

- Murder mystery dinner: Celebrate love with a Valentine's Day murder mystery dinner at the Islip Terrace Fire Department on Friday, Feb. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by Heather's Helpers Foundation, the $75 admission funds the foundation and honors Heather McNamara, the beloved EMT and childhood cancer survivor who passed away in June.
