Bay Shore Man Sexually Abused Stepdaughter, Sentenced To 75 Years: DA
"We stand with the survivor in her journey towards healing and hope that this sentence allows her some measure of comfort." - DA Tierney
BAY SHORE, NY — A 45-year-old Bay Shore man was sentenced to 75 aggregate years in prison on Tuesday followed by 20 years of post-release supervision for repeatedly sexually abusing his stepdaughter, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
The DA’s office is not naming the defendant in order to protect the identity of the girl.
In February, a jury found the man guilty of repeatedly sexually abusing his stepdaughter when she was between the ages of 10 and 11 years old, Tierney said.

According to evidence established at trial, between August and October 2021, the man sexually abused her on three separate occasions while her mother was at work, Tierney said.
When the abuse began, the victim was 10 years old. It continued until the then 11-year-old victim sent a text message to 911 reporting that her stepfather was trying to have sex with her, and that he had sexually abused her three times in the past, the DA said.

The child was taken for a sexual assault forensic examination, which confirmed DNA evidence of abuse, the DA said.
According to the DA, the defendant was arrested by the Suffolk County Police Department on December 22, 2021.
On February 22, 2024, he was convicted of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual acts, Class B violent felonies, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor, after a jury trial heard before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis, the DA said.
“We stand with the survivor in her journey towards healing and hope that this sentence allows hersome measure of comfort,” said Tierney. “My office will continue to fight for justice for victims of sexual violence here in Suffolk County.”
The defendant was represented by attorney Scott Migden. He was not immediately available for comment.
