Fire Island Vines Brings Winery Tastings Closer To Home

The tasting room will serve its own varieties of wine from an East End vineyard as well as other drinks.

Bay Shore, NY— A new wine tasting room will open in Bay Shore later this month, a unique establishment that's something like a cross between a remote winery and a wine bar. Fire Island Vines, technically a "farm winery," is almost ready to open, owner Angelo Crisci told Patch, at 17 East Main Street.

The West Islip resident and his family have been running a wine tour business for seven years, and Fire Island Vines will be their first storefront location. Crisci is partnering with North Fork vineyard Laurel Lake to create five unique wines that will only be sold at the Bay Shore wine bar: a pinot grigio, pinot noir, sauvignon, rosé and riesling. Other local wines and even local spirits like local vodka or cider from Long Island distilleries will also be on offer, along with a large craft beer tap menu. Crisci plans to serve small plates of food like cheese boards and meat platters, and have live music, adding to the winery-type atmosphere.

"We know what people like from bringing them to vineyards for years," he said. Eventually Crisci wants to feature the best wines from all over New York State. Fire Island Vines will also have a loyalty club, where members can purchase cases of wine at reduced rates.
