BAY SHORE, NY — Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives are investigating a blaze that engulfed a Bay Shore home on Monday, Suffolk County police told Patch.

Shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday, the Islip Fire Department was called to provide mutual aid to the Brentwood Fire Department battling a residential fire on New York Avenue in Bay Shore, officials said.

Police said the home's residents safely evacuated the premises and no injuries were reported.

Islip firefighters were initially called as a FAST team to provide immediate assistance to Brentwood, but upon the arrival, Tower Ladder 3-4-11 and Chief 3-4-31 were reassigned as a working truck company.

Because the fire was "well advanced and manpower taxing," the Islip FD was then requested to respond with an additional engine company bringing in Engine 3-4-7 to the scene, officials said.
