More Rain This Weekend, Snow Maybe Monday: Long Island Forecast

LONG ISLAND, NY — Rain will keep falling, with a little fog and a little snow for variation in the forecast for the region.

Long Islanders may catch a glimpse of our closest star on Saturday morning.

Otherwise, the big weather story is the unseasonable warmth. Thursday's temperatures may reach the middle 50s on the island, as well as in New York City, which is about 15 degrees above the historical average, said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.

Temps will drop into the 30s by Sunday.

Here's the 5-day forecast based on southeast Suffolk County:

• Thursday - Rain. Patchy fog this afternoon. Highs in the lower 50s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.
• Tonight - Rain. Areas of fog. Lows around 40. Northeast winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.
• Friday - Cloudy. Areas of fog in the morning. Rain likely, mainly in the morning. Highs in the mid 40s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 60 percent.
• Friday Night - Mostly cloudy. Lows in the upper 30s. North winds around 5 mph.
• Saturday - Partly sunny in the morning, then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid 40s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Saturday Night - Cloudy. A chance of rain after midnight. Lows in the upper 30s. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Sunday - Rain. Highs in the lower 40s. Chance of rain 90 percent.
• Sunday Night - Rain likely, mainly in the evening. Breezy with lows around 30. Chance of rain 70 percent.
• Monday - Mostly cloudy. A chance of snow in the morning. Breezy with highs in the lower 30s. Chance of snow 50 percent.
• Monday Night - Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 20s.
