Rainy Week To End With Holiday Sunshine: Long Island Forecast

LONG ISLAND, NY — It looks as if it's going to be a wet holiday week across Long Island, with chances at least for showers Tuesday night through Saturday morning.

On Wednesday and Thursday, warm temperatures will peak with highs up into the 50s before dropping for New Year's.

Here's the extended forecast through the next holiday weekend, based on southwest Suffolk County:

• Wednesday - Cloudy. A chance of rain in the morning, then rain likely in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 50s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
• Wednesday Night - Rain. Near steady temperature in the upper 40s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.
• Thursday - Mostly cloudy. Showers likely, mainly in the morning. Highs in the lower 50s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
