Visit Christmas Past With Sagtikos Manor 'Decking the Halls' Tours

Guests can go back in time and experience holiday traditions of the past.

BAY SHORE, NY — A historical Long Island landmark is to continue a beloved holiday tradition.

Sagtikos Manor, located at 677 Montauk Highway in West Bay Shore, will be hosting its "Decking the Halls at Sagtikos" holiday house tours on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4.

Guests will "step back in time" in the decorated Manor and explore some holiday traditions of that were celebrated throughout the past.

Space is limited and reservations are highly recommended. Tours begin at 10 a.m. and leave every 15 minutes. There will be a break from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. The last tour is at 2:30 pm.

Tour admission is $22 for adults, $9 for children ages 5 through 12. Tickets at the door are $25 as space allows.

Built in 1697 by Stephanus Van Cortlandt, the first American-born mayor of New York City, the manor carries generations of historic importance.

President George Washington stayed at the estate in 1790, as it also once served as headquarters for the Revolutionary War.

Guests can also visit the 42-room Manor year-round, and even visit the bedroom where Washington slept.
