3-Year-Old Jewish Boy Slapped In Face In BK Hate Crime Spree: PD

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Cops are searching for suspects who slapped a 3-year-old and 9-year-old Jewish boy during a hate crime spree in Bed-Stuy over the weekend.

The three assaults unfolded Friday and Sunday, the first night of Hanukkah, all within just a few blocks of one another on Skillman Street and Dekalb Avenue, according to police.

All three victims — a 3-year-old, 9-year-old and 18-year-old — were dressed in traditional Jewish attire at the time of the attacks, which the Anti-Defamation League has called "unacceptable."

“We are outraged by this string of attacks targeting Jewish children and youth,” said Scott Richman, the regional director for the ADL of New York and New Jersey. “Two of the three incidents occurred on the first night of Chanukah, which should be a time of celebration, not fear and trauma for our young people. ADL is offering this award to send a clear message that hate-motivated violence is absolutely unacceptable."

In the first attack, the 3-year-old boy on Skillman Street around 6 p.m. Friday was slapped in the face, police said.

On Sunday, an 18-year-old woman on Dekalb Avenue was pulled to the ground at 5:35 p.m. and, minutes later, a 9-year-old boy was slapped in the head around the corner on Skillman Street, police said.

The ADL is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the assaults.

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force has released photos of three suspects in the incidents:
