Boyfriend Arrested After Stabbing Girlfriend To Death In Bed-Stuy, Police Say
A man was arrested after stabbing his girlfriend to death in their Bed-Stuy home on Monday, according to police.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A Bed-Stuy man stabbed his girlfriend to death in their apartment early Monday morning, according to police.
Authorities confirmed on Tuesday that Anthony Bradford was arrested on murder and weapons-possession charges in connection with his girlfriend Laverne Spencer’s death. Police said they found Spencer with stab wounds in the couple's home in the 480 block of Gates Avenue. (Want more local news? Sign up here fore free news alerts and neighborhood updates from Patch.)
Officers responded to a 911 call at about 12:18 a.m. on Monday, finding Spencer with injuries to her torso and head, the NYPD said in a statement. Emergency responders rushed her to Woodhull Hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival, according to authorities. She was 55 years old.

Bradford, 53, was taken into custody immediately after Spencer's death, but wasn't charged until Tuesday, authorities said. Patch was not immediately able to contact Bradford's attorney on Tuesday morning.
In a report released in May, Mayor Bill de Blasio's office said that domestic violence accounted for one in every five homicides and two in every five assaults citywide.
