Years-Old Human Skeleton Found in Brooklyn Home, Police Say
The skeleton appears to have been rotting in the home "for a number of years," cops say. It was discovered Monday by the home's new buyers.

NEW LOTS, BROOKLYN — An entire human skeleton was discovered Monday afternoon inside a newly purchased, long-abandoned home at 745 Barbey St. in New Lots, near East New York, according to the NYPD.
“It was a whole entire skeleton, and it had apparently been there for a number of years,” an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
The home “was just recently purchased,” the spokesman said, “and now, finally, as people re-entered this location, a body was found on second floor.”

The folks who discovered the skeleton called 911 around 1 p.m. Monday, according to an NYPD news release.
“Upon arrival, police observed the human skeletal remains of an unidentified individual on the 2nd floor of the location,” the release said.

The NYC Medical Examiner will now try to identify the individual and determine his or her cause of death.
Police investigators have not ruled out homicide. However, an NYPD spokesman told Patch that “just going off what’s left of the skeleton, there doesn’t appear to be obvious signs of trauma.”
The home at 745 Barbey has been abandoned and its windows boarded up since at least December 2012, city records show.
