Brooklyn Pedestrian Shoots Car Passenger Over Bad Parking Job: Report
FEMA flood analyst Seymour Smith Jr. was reportedly shot twice in the legs near his Bed-Stuy home.
A FEMA flood analyst returning home after a long day on flood watch was shot twice in the legs early Saturday morning over a bad parking job, the victim and his father told CBS New York.
Seymour Smith Jr., 33, said he didn’t want to talk on camera, lest his attackers spot him and strike again.
His father, though, Seymour Smith Sr., described the freak 2 a.m. shooting near the corner of Bedford and Gates avenues in Bed-Stuy.

“He was with his friend,” Smith Sr. said. ”His friend was parking the car. He made a U-turn to park, and while he was parking, he passed by two cars a little close. And the guy said, ’Are you guys trying to hit us?’ And they apologized.”
The apology apparently wasn’t enough.

When Smith Jr. stepped out of his friend’s car, CBS reported, ”one of the men just shot him — twice, in the legs.”
The FEMA employee underwent surgery on his legs, his father said, but it’s unclear if he’ll be able to walk normally again.
Patch has reached out to Seymour Jr. for more details, but we have yet to hear back.
The NYPD’s press office couldn’t provide any information on the shooting.
“So shocking,” a neighbor told CBS. “So shocking. Just over a U-turn — it’s insane.”
