BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A woman videotaped telling her fellow A Train passengers “I will cut you” on Dec. 15, then lunging at them with a sharp object, has been identified and arrested by the NYPD.
The suspect’s name Merci Chrisette, and she’s a 28-year-old resident of Bainbridge Street in Bed-Stuy, according to police.
Chrisette was arrested on Dec. 29 and charged with “assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment,” police said.
Gothamist reported that Chrisette was the one who turned herself in. She reportedly allowed detectives to handcuff her outside a Hooper Street coffee shop in Williamsburg.
“Be nice to the police officers!” one friend shouted as Chrisette was taken away, according to Gothamist.
The suspect had been arguing with strangers on the A Train on the night of Dec. 15 when she suddenly pulled out a pointy object and threatened to injure them with it.
The below video of the incident — uploaded to YouTube and re-posted by Gothamist — shows the suspect yelling at a man and a woman on the train, then lunging at them with the object in her hand.
“Do you want a clue of what’s going to happen when I get off this train?” she asks. “I’m going to cut you, and I’m going to get away with it.”
“Now if you say one more word, this is going to end very badly,” she continues. “Do you understand? DO YOU UNDERSTAND?”
The passengers then begin to scuffle, during which time the victims each sustained “a small laceration about their face,” according to the NYPD.
The assault allegedly took place around 7 p.m. as the A Train was heading south toward the Jay Street-MetroTech subway station in Downtown Brooklyn.
Both victims refused medical attention when they stepped off the train at the Nostrand Avenue station in Bed-Stuy, the NYPD said, and ”the suspect the fled to parts unknown.”
A couple nights earlier, another man riding the A Train was slashed in the neck as he disembarked at the Nostrand Avenue station. He told reporters that his attacker disappeared into a subway tunnel after the slashing. Unlike in the videotaped Dec. 15 incident, no arrests have been made.
