Bellmore Woman Participates in Cultural Exchange Program

Alyssa Santo, a junior at Boston University, spent 12 days in Rome.

Alyssa Santo, a Bellmore resident and a junior at Boston University, took part in a cultural exchange program, in which she spent 12 days exploring Rome.

The National Organization of Italian Women in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the trip for nine Italian American college women.

Santo, an art history major, attended classes at universities in the area, met with accomplished women in the fields of business, journalism,law and education and had a tour of the National Gallery of Modern Art.

She and the other participants were able to experience Italian culture first-hand and spent a day with Italian families.

The National Organization of Italian American Women, founded in 1980, is a non-profit organization for women of Italian ancestry.
