Reinhard Students Explore Long Island

The second graders were able to practice their map reading skills.

As an part of their lessons on maps and globes, second graders at the Reinhard Early Childhood Center recently explored a map of Long Island.

Anne Johnson and Fanny Kleisler, naturalists from Nassau BOCES, brought a 25’ by 36’ floor map to the school and allowed the students to participate in hands-on and feet-on activities.

The students were able to practice their map reading skills and explored various areas of Long Island from Long Beach City to the South Shore’s Southampton beaches and the North Shore’s Orient Point.
