Celebrating National Farmers Market Week In Suffolk County

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — It's National Farmers Market Week, a great reason to celebrate the abundance of fresh produce and unique products from Suffolk County farms.

In its 25th year, National Farmers Market Week runs until August 10 and is led by the Farmers Market Coalition to celebrate local farmers and producers who support communities and the local economy.

According to the coalition, the annual celebration grew from a little-known proclamation declared by the United States Department of Agriculture to a nationally honored event promoting and advocating for farmers' markets.

Assemblyman Joe DeStefano announced the week on his Facebook page, writing that farmers' markets "strengthen community bonds, promote environmental sustainability and boost the local economy."
