Man Arrested After Fleeing Scene Of Fatal Brentwood Hit-And-Run: PD

The driver fled the scene, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY– A man was arrested after fleeing the scene of a crash that left a pedestrian dead in Brentwood Monday morning, police said.

Luis Vasquez, 59, of Brentwood, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, according to Suffolk County police.

According to police, the crash took place on Wicks Road, near Bradley Road, at about 5:10 a.m.

Police said Vasquez was driving a 2020 Toyota Highlander southbound on Wicks Road when he struck a woman who was crossing from east to west. Vasquez fled the scene in the vehicle, police said.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was struck by at least one other vehicle before an ambulance took her to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was slated for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.
