Man Killed In Shooting Outside Central Islip Restaurant

Police arrested a man Monday after responding to a 1 a.m. shooting outside Mi Nuevo Encanto on Carleton Avenue.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY—In the third shooting in the area since Friday, a man was killed outside a Central Islip restaurant early Monday morning.

At 1 a.m., officers from Suffolk County's Third Precinct responded to a 911 call that a man was shot outside Mi Nuevo Encanto, a Dominican restaurant at 65 Carleton Avenue.

According to a statement from the Suffolk County Police Department, officers saw the shooter flee in a vehicle and arrested him soon after. The man who was shot was pronounced dead at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore.

The police have not released the identities of the victim or the shooter is now charged with second degree murder.

Police Homicide detective Kevin Beyrer told Newsday that police are looking into any gang connections the two men might have.
