Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Pickup Truck in Central Islip
A man was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday morning.
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Central Islip Tuesday morning.
According to Suffolk Police, the man was crossing Suffolk Avenue, east of Lowell Avenue, when he was struck by a 2011 Toyota Tacoma traveling eastbound on Suffolk Avenue at 6:08 a.m.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. His identity is being withheld pending notification of kin. The driver of the Toyota, Michael Torres, 41, of Central Islip, was uninjured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Third Squad Detectives at 631-854-8352.
