2 Men Charged After Climbing Into Brooklyn Sewer: Report

BROOKLYN, NY — Three men are facing charges after allegedly entering a Bensonhurst sewer on Monday, according to a report.

Police are still searching for two other suspects as of Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened at the corner of 17th Avenue and 82nd Street around 5:10 p.m., News 12 reported.

A group of five individuals were seen lifting a manhole cover with three men climbing down the sewer, according to the report.

The incident was witnessed by neighbors, who then called 911.

Zion McKenzie, 25, Shawan Thompson, 26, and Willie Green, 39, were all arrested shortly after the incident, police said.

The trio face burglary, possession of a burglary tool, criminal mischief and criminal facilitation charges.

It is not known at this time why the group was going into the sewer system.

An investigation remains ongoing.
