Human Remains Found Along NYC Parkway ID'd As Missing Brooklyn Woman, Police Say

Christina Purdie, 27, was found along the Jackie Robinson Parkway in Queens on Aug. 6, months after she went missing, authorities said.

BROOKLYN, NY — Months after she disappeared, a woman whose remains were found in a bag along the Queens-Brooklyn border in August has been identified, and police have ruled her death a homicide.

Authorities said the remains belong to 27-year-old Christina Purdie, a resident of South Midwood in Brooklyn who had been reported missing months earlier.

City Department of Transportation workers discovered her body in a black garbage bag on the westbound side of the Jackie Robinson Parkway near Highland Boulevard around 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 6, officials said.

The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Purdie’s death a homicide, indicating investigators believe she was murdered, though the exact cause of death has not been determined.

After the discovery, police released images of some of Purdie’s personal items, including jewelry and a rose tattoo on her upper left buttocks, to help confirm her identity.

An NYPD spokesperson said additional details about her disappearance and the circumstances of her death are being withheld while the investigation continues.
