4 Injured In Brooklyn Apartment Fire, E-Bike Likely Cause: FDNY

BROOKLYN, NY — Firefighters battled a fire at a Brooklyn apartment early Thursday morning that left four people injured, officials said.

The fire happened at 416 Avenue M in Midwood at around 6:33 a.m.

According to fire officials, the fire may have been caused by an e-bike that caught on fire.

One person was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to ABC7 New York.

It also appears that flames spread to the roof of the building.

The fire is still under investigation, according to officials.

"We did recover a micromobility device at the base of the stairs that was powered by a lithium-ion battery," Chief Fire Marshall Daniel Flynn said in a statement.

The fire was put under control just after 7 a.m.
