5 Brooklyn Stories You May Have Missed This Week

BROOKLYN, NY — Here are some of the stories that made headlines in Brooklyn this week:

1) 3 Charged With Murder in Death of Former Cuomo Aide — Carey Gabay was caught in the crossfire of an alleged gang shootout, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office.

2) A new study suggests that Airbnb is helping to drive up rents in the Greenpoint-Bushwick region of Brooklyn, as well as around Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy.

3) City Officials Kick Off Public Engagement on BQE Project — It won't be easy, city officials said, but the historically bad roadway will eventually see major improvements from Atlantic to Sands.

4) At Brownsville's P.S. 233, Concerns Persist About Merger with Charter — The New American Academy will move into the public school's building in the fall.

5) Brooklyn Congressional Primary Winners: Meeks, Velázquez, Nadler and Maloney — Primaries were held Tuesday in four Congressional districts representing parts of Brooklyn.
